Blossom Candleholder

pin

Born in Sonderborg, Denmark, in 1958, architect and designer Anders Norgaard became very familiar with Danish design principles early on. "I grew up with functionalism and craftsmanship," says Norgaard. "Danish architects of the 1950s and 60s were friends of my parents and among my teachers." After graduating from the Aarhus School of Architecture, he went on to open his own studio, where he now designs furniture, lighting and accessories. He aims to evoke classic candleholders from his childhood with the Blossom Candleholder (2012) , which features a name and shape inspired by the way flower buds look before they bloom. It's produced from beech using traditional woodturning techniques and fitted with an iron insert for increased stability. Meant for candles up to 7"" high. Candle not included. Wooden portion made in Sweden, metal portion in China.
